Our House of Portland’s exceptional volunteer program provides individual care unparalleled in other facilities. Residents of Our House benefit from the generosity of approximately 120 volunteers who provide a multitude of services including cooking, laundry, facility maintenance tasks, reception, gardening, acupuncture, massage, spiritual consultation, personal care, and companionship. Some of these functions are normally paid positions in other facilities. At Our House, the volunteer program represents the equivalent of an additional six full-time staff and allows us to focus our dollars toward direct resident care. The volunteer program is managed by Director of Volunteers Kathryn Seibert. Ms. Siebert is responsible for all administration, recruitment, screening, communication, training and mediation of this program, in conjunction with other programs serving the direct needs of the residents.
